Level 3 & Texture
After finish before texture
All Projects over 25 sheets MUST receive a thorough inspection after finishing is done prior to texture, inspections MUST be done with a light of at least 300 lumens. Inspections should take AT LEAST 10 minutes per 100 sheets. Any dent, bump or line larger than one 1/8″ is to be fixed prior to texture. Inside corners must be finished within 1/8″ of the corner (if a thin bead of calk won’t cover it, it is unacceptable).
After texture
ALL projects will receive a final quality control inspection, (photos are acceptable for repairs) inspections MUST be done with a light of at least 300 lumens. Inspections should take AT LEAST 10 minutes per 100 sheets, any dents or bumps that are not consistent with the applied texture must be fixed prior to priming or declaring the project complete.
If possible schedule a 24 hour gap between the end of finishing and texture.
Level 4
All Projects MUST receive a thorough final inspection. Inspections MUST be done with a light of at least 300 lumens. Inspections should take AT LEAST 15 minutes per 100 sheets. Any dent, bump or line of any size is to be fixed prior to primer or declaring the project complete. Inside corners must be finished within 1/16″ of the corner (if a thin bead of calk won’t cover it, it is unacceptable).
Level 5
Hand finished
All Projects MUST receive a thorough final inspection. Inspections MUST be done with a light of at least 1,000 lumens. Inspections should take AT LEAST 20 minutes per 100 sheets. Any dent, bump, line or sanding mark of any size is to be fixed prior to declaring the project complete. Inside corners must be finished within 1/16″ of the corner (if a thin bead of calk won’t cover it, it is unacceptable).
Spray Finished
Prior to spraying, all projects must go through a level 4 final inspection 2 times by 2 different people. Spraying can only be done using USG Tuff Hide and can only be sprayed by someone with a minimum of 5 years experience spraying level 5 primer. 24 hours after spraying, the standard level 5 inspection must be performed.
Corner Bead & Bull Nose
Any bent or loose corner bead must be fixed prior to finishing.
Scrapping
All projects over 25 sheets will be FULLY scrapped and swept prior to any mud or tape.
Final Clean
After completion, all projects will have the floor scraped flush enough to put in flooring on top without issue, will be fully swept and any mud or over spray on finished non drywall surface will be fully cleaned off. If requested the driveway/ exterior entry must be hosed off if the client provides a hose and water.
Job Site Cleanliness
Hangers
All scraps are to be made into piles at the end of each day and the job site is to always be kept in a reasonably cleanly manor.
Finishers
Boxes and tape scraps are to be made into piles at the end of each day and the job site is to always be kept in a reasonably cleanly manor.
Spray Crews
All non drywall surfaces that may be caught in overspray are to be fully masked prior to spraying start, after spraying masking materials are to be made into piles and the job site is to always be kept in a reasonably cleanly manor.
Site Access and water supply
Prior to all projects start a stocking access point and crew access point must be agreed upon with the client. If access in only available through living space then appropriate runners must be installed prior to construction start. Water access and crew restrooms must be figured out prior to construction start.
Floor Covering
Finished Floor
All finished flooring (unless being demoed) must be covered with an adequate material, 4-6 mil plastic, Rosin paper or Ram Board. Soft/breakable finished floors must be covered with Ram Board.
Unfinished Floor (subfloor or concrete)
Unfinished floors that will be covered with flooring are only to be covered if requested by the client. Unfinished flooring that will remain exposed must be covered unless noted otherwise.
Drywall Hangers
All projects must meet the following requirements. No loose or moving drywall, screws 12″ oc in the field and 8″ oc on the edges (unless otherwise noted). All sheets must be shimmed flush to each other, inside and outside corners must be shimmed achieve straight corners. Gaps between sheets can never be larger than 1/4″ .
Drywall Finishers
General Rules
-MESH TAPE CAN NEVER BE USED WITH REGULAR MUD
-TAPING MUST BE DONE WITH TOTAL OR ALL PURPOSE
Taping with regular paper tape
Tape must have full mud coverage between the tape and the drywall, inside corners must be straight and without wrinkles
Level 3 (for texture)
All level 3 finishes must appear flat when pressed with a 12″ drywall knife, imperfections larger than 1/8″ are unacceptable, all tape, fasteners and bead must receive 2+ coats.
Level 4 (for paint or primer)
All level 4 finishes must appear flat when pressed with a 14″ drywall knife, imperfections of any size are unacceptable, all tape, fasteners and bead must receive 3+ coats. We define a Level 4 as perfect seams.
